Student Enrollment Agreement
- I understand that Candidates for the Early Childhood or for the Elementary I-II credential must hold a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S., or its equivalent.
- I understand that Candidates for the Early Childhood credential must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S., or its equivalent. and that Candidates for the Associate Early Childhood credential must hold at least secondary or highschool education. Both Credentials mean the same content of the training. Some locations or schools may not accept an Associate Early Childhood credential as the qualification for full teaching responsibility, but it is a decision and responsibility of each school.
- I understand that any degree earned outside of the U.S. will have to be evaluated by a member of NACES – the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services – for equivalence at the student’s own expense.
- I understand that the English language has to be at an advanced level (at least B1 level according to CEFR).
- I understand that this course does not offer teacher qualification. Local requirements may differ.
- I understand it is solely my responsibility to plan and satisfy all requirements associated with a Practicum. Duhovka may offer but cannot guarantee Practicum within their schools.
- I understand that only after I have completed all course requirements will I be recommended as a candidate for certification to the American Montessori Society.
- I agree to submit all required documents and fees to Duhovka Montessori Teacher Education Program and the American Montessori Society and to MACTE, as they are due.
- I understand that this Course prepares adults to work with students in the Montessori Method but does not guarantee employment.
- I agree to submit all required documents to Duhovka Montessori prior to the start of Course.
Adult Learner Responsibilities
The program maintains its rights as an institution of post-secondary education, and expects the adult learner to be responsible for the following.
It is the responsibility of the adult learner to:
- Enroll only out of a need and desire to learn rather than a wish to manipulate the course for other ends.
- Be informed - by reading the information disseminated by the course.
- Take an active part in planning and executing the course of study within the context of stated requirements and existing institutional resources.
- Continually self-monitor academic progress.
- Attend class and participate in other learning activities, come prepared, and complete assignments on time.
- Embrace the principle of academic honesty.
- Respect the freedom of the program’s staff to inquire, publish, and teach.
In the area of finances, the adult learner accepts the responsibility to:
- Be informed—about the full cost, refund policies, and financial stability of the program by reading published statements on fees and policies and by contacting the program director and/or administrators with any questions.
- Read and fully comprehend contracts before signing them, and keep a copy of all contracts and receipts.
- Understand tuition costs completely and accurately.
- Satisfy financial obligations to the program in a timely fashion.
In the area of admissions, the adult learner accepts the responsibility to:
- Be knowledgeable about other available courses/programs to ensure that enrollment is based on an informed decision.
- Represent oneself honestly in applying to the program.
- Complete the application process promptly by submitting requested materials and fulfilling prerequisite requirements.
Teacher Education Program Responsibilities
In order to preserve and protect the rights of adult learners, the teacher education program makes a commitment to the following responsibilities.
In the area of academics, the TEP will:
- Emphasize quality in every aspect of course delivery.
- Award credit when and where it is due, in accordance with published standards.
- Maintain clearly stated written policies for accepting transfer credit from other institutions, in accordance with AMS policies.
- Disclose accurate information about the recognition and acceptance of credit for this course by other institutions.
- Ensure fair and reasonable academic evaluation with grades and evaluations that are meaningful, timely, and based on quality of adult learner performance. The TEP will maintain transcripts or records of grades in accordance with state/local requirements, and guarantee confidentiality and adult learner access to records.
- Award certifications when merited, and inform adult learners regularly of academic progress. The TEP will recommend a candidate for credentialing by AMS after all stated requirements are satisfied.
- Offer quality instruction through instructors who have appropriate preparation and expertise in accordance with AMS requirements, are up to date in their fields, meet according to the published schedule, come to class prepared, and are available to adult learners outside of class.
- Describe course requirements in clear, specific, and accurate terms in written form, and ensure that requirements are educationally meaningful.
- Notify adult learners of unusual features of the course that cannot be readily anticipated.
- Offer coursework that follows the published catalog description.
- Embrace the principle of academic honesty.
- Publish causes for dismissal in clear and specific form, and dismiss an adult learner only for appropriate cause and after due process.
In the area of admissions, the TEP will:
- Provide published policies on the admission process.
- Give prospective adult learners an accurate overview of the course, encouraging them to visit the facility in order to meet with staff and current adult learners to provide additional detail.
- Maintain clear and specific policies on the availability of job placement services.
Program Policies
This is an abridged version of the Program Policies. The full version is published in the current DMTEP Adult Learner Handbook.
1. Timeframe
Adult Learners are expected to complete all course requirements, including academic, practicum, and financial requirements, within a 3-year time period following the program’s official end of the academic phase in which the adult learner was initially enrolled. This period can be extended with the approval of the Program Director.
If the Adult Learner extends his/her course work beyond the 3 years following the end of the academic phase, then he/she has to be a current AMS member in order to be recommended for an AMS credential.
2. Non Discrimination Policy
DMTEP is obliged to ensure equal treatment of all employees and Adult Learners in regard to working conditions, remuneration and other financial benefits, training and the opportunity to achieve career advancement. DMTEP does not discriminate against on the grounds of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, faith and religion, political or other opinions, membership or activity in political movements, trade unions and other associations, nationality, ethnic or social origin, property, birth, health status, age, marital status and family status or family obligations.
DMTEP is obliged not to abuse their exercising of rights and obligations arising from any relations to the detriment of the employee or Adult Learner.
DMTEP must not penalize an employee or Adult Learner in any manner or discriminate because the employee or Adult Learner is lawfully claiming their rights arising from any legal relationship.
3. Transfer Credit
An Adult Learner can transfer their credit from another Montessori Teacher Education Program recognized by AMS (AMI, NCME or MACTE accredited). Please contact our office for more information.
4. Confidentiality of Records
Adult Learner records are collected and processed by the DMTEP office. Confidentiality of records is always guaranteed. Review of any records can be done through appointment with the Director.
5. Attendance
The Adult Learner is responsible for reaching the minimum attendance of each Course Component (90%). In case of being absent, following rules apply:
- When more than 10% of total hours are missed in any one course component, the hours must be made up before the student will receive or earn a passing grade for this course component. 6 days of the make-ups of the course subject are FREE of charge, but for the other make-ups the fee of EUR 50 per each day of the course subject is charged.
- If a student misses 50% or above in any course component, it is required to be fully retaken at full costs of the course. And re-entering/re-evaluation fee is charged.
The fee for the administrative process of recalculating a student's course schedule will be assessed for each re-evaluation. Special conditions apply and are the decision of the DMTEP administrative staff.
6. Program Interruption and re-entering
In the case an Adult Learner withdraws from the program, he or she has 2-years from date of withdrawal to apply for reentry into the program. Please contact our office for more information.
7. Withdrawal Policy
In the case where a student realizes their need to leave the program, the Program Director may counsel out the student in a respectable, positive manner. All documents describing this process will be documented in the student's file.
8. Dismissal Policy
Dismissal from the course is a serious matter and will be taken as the last resort. The following conditions may result in dismissal from the Program:
- An attitude of unwillingness or an inability to meet course standards.
- Either professional or personal behaviors that are deemed unethical or dangerous.
9. Career Opportunities and Job Placement
Duhovka Montessori Teacher Education Program may assist and facilitate, but offers no formal placement service. DMTEP offers no guarantees on salaries or placements upon completion of our teaching course.
10. Course cancellation
If the course is cancelled by the Program for serious reasons, the Adult Learners/Clients are immediately informed on their contact email address. All fees paid are returned to the Adult Learner/Client within a month of the announcement, except for the Non-refundable registration fee.
11. Academic Grievance Procedure
Grievances will be heard by an arbitration committee in the following circumstances:
- delivering incomplete or extremely deficient course information
- failure to meet requirements for certification
- failure to meet financial obligations
Adult Learners Fees and Financial Information
Standard Tuition

The Course Tuition includes:
- AMS and MACTE Adult Learner registration fees (EUR 490)
- In class and online training sessions with AMS qualified instructors
- Online courses (self study)
- Early Childhood Overview online course for Elementary training participants who do not hold an internationally recognized Early Childhood credential
- Free access to any training session as a refresher after graduation (if training site capacity allows)
The Course Tuition excludes:
- Application Fee EUR 200 / CZK 5,000
- Training manuals and other resources (EUR 150/EC, EUR 500/ELE I, EUR 1000/ELE I-II)
- 3 Practicum visits by our Practicum Field Consultant (2 in person and 1 online) - paid by AL (travelling cost and accommodation)
Payment may be made in full or in increments below:
- Option 1 - 25% First payment 14-30 days from registration, then 37,5% Second payment 4 months from registration and 37,5% Third payment 8 months from registration
- Option 2 - 25% First payment 14-30 days from registration, then 75% Second payment 4 months from registration
- Option 3 - 100% Only one payment 14-30 days from registration
Once the Payment Plan option is selected, completing the payment for the whole tuition becomes binding.

Fees
Application Fee: EUR 200 / CZK 5,000
This non-refundable fee covers the costs of the application process and associated paperwork.
Re-entering/Re-evaluation fee: EUR 200 / CZK 5,000
Make-up of the course subject fee: EUR 50 / CZK 1250 / each day
Late fees
We send reminders to Adult Learner’s contact email address about late payments that are more than 30 days past due. If the past due amount is not paid within 15 days from sending the reminder, late fees of 0.05% per day are applied.
Refund Policy
- 90% of tuition paid - before end of week 1
- 50% of tuition paid - before end of week 2
- No refund - after the end of week 2
Invoicing and Payment
If tuition is paid by a third party (i.e. Adult Learner’s employer), it is an agreement between the employer and the Adult Learner. DMTEP can issue an invoice with the employer’s information on request.
Scholarship Information
Every year, the American Montessori Society awards teacher education scholarships to aspiring Montessori teachers. Through the awarding of Teacher Education Scholarships, AMS supports the growth of Montessori teachers of tomorrow. Those eligible to apply for scholarships are individuals who have been accepted, are in the process of being accepted, or are already enrolled in an AMS-affiliated teacher education program.
